Check-in/Pick-up

What time will check-in open?

Check-in will open promptly at 7:30am.

Upon parent pick-up, how will you identify which child belongs to which parent?

All children will receive a coded credential that matches their parents’ ID credential. Children will be checked in and out upon arrival and departure from the Destiny World area.

Do we have to pick up and drop off the children?

All CHILDREN must be dropped off between 7:30am-8:30am, and picked up by 4:30pm if they are not enrolled in Aftercare. Children enrolled in Aftercare must be picked up by 6:00pm. If you pick up your child after these times, you will incur a $5.00 per minute Late Pick-up Fee. If your child is not picked up by 6:30pm, the Texas Department of Family Protective Services will be contacted.

Medical/Emergency

Will a medical emergency station be available in the Destiny World area?

Yes. A medical emergency station is centrally located in the Destiny World area with trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

Will I need to provide my child’s medical information at the time of registration for Vacation Bible School?

Yes. Please indicate any and all medical conditions on the registration form when registering your child. Be sure to include any allergies your child may have and be very specific. (For example, is the allergy airborne?)

How are parents notified if an emergency occurs with their child?

We work closely with our security department, using several means of instant communication. We retrieve information from our KidCheck system and database. It is important that you provide a valid cell phone number and at least two emergency contact numbers to assist in this process.

General/Logistics

What should my child bring in order for them to have a successful Vacation Bible School experience?

Cell phones are allowed. However, the Destiny World Staff is not responsible for them. For the safety of your children, please dress them appropriately. For example, shorts, t-shirts and closed-toe shoes are an appropriate option.

May I stay with my child during their sessions?

Yes. However, you must have background clearance.

Are the children areas accessible to the physically handicapped?

Yes. Signs and personnel will be present to direct attendees.

Will food be provided for the children?

Yes. A light/continental breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. Children must arrive no later than 8:15am to receive breakfast.

What would a typical day look like for the children during Vacation Bible School (i.e. Activities, Bible Lessons, etc.)?

There will be several age-appropriate, live, Christian events for kids. A comprehensive schedule of events for kids will be available at the registration area upon check-in.

Volunteering for VBS

What is the process for screening your Volunteers to ensure the safety of the children? For example: background checks, CPR Training, etc.?

Volunteer procedures are as follows:

Background checks (must pass with an “All-clear” status)
Training in the following areas:
- Child Supervision
- Mandatory Reporting
- Safety, Lockdown and Evacuation Procedures
- Event Volunteer Guidelines & Responsibilities
Volunteer’s file will contain:
- Signed Confidentiality Statement
- Signed Commitment Form
- Information Sheet (Personal Information, i.e. emergency contacts)
- A current photo taken by The Potter’s House Volunteer Department

If a parent would like to help with this event, what is necessary for them to be a Destiny World Vacation Bible School Volunteer?

All parents must go through the same process as the volunteers to be considered a Vacation Bible School volunteer. However, if they do become a volunteer, there is no guarantee they will be in the same room or area with their child.

What is your child-to-staff ratio during this event?

We follow regulated standards set by the State of Texas to ensure adequate staff and supervision are provided along with uniformed and non-uniformed security.
